My Approach
Issues arising from our family of origin can follow us into adulthood. This is the emotional baggage passed down in our childhood from our parents, and our parents' parents that forms the stories of who we are. When we are able to see past these inherited stories, we arrive at who we really are. This is our authentic self.
There are a number of life events that can lead us to our search for our authentic self. Communication issues, relationship patterns, frustration and/or anger with life are a few examples. Also, life transitions such as marriage, having children, losing a job, or separating from a partner, can bring up questions: Who am I? What is my place in the world? How do I make meaning out of what I do?
Discovering the answers to these questions is a journey of integrating all aspects of ourselves, including parts that may have been lost, forgotten or simply not fostered in our childhood. In embarking on this journey of discovery, you'll learn how to identify feelings, integrate coping skills into your life and make appropriate changes to foster emotional and physical health.
